Q: What issues should be noted during the use of the YT30G air-leg rock drill?

A: Besides observance of the general safety precautions for rock drilling operations, particular attention should be paid to the following:

The machine is filled with rust preventive oil before leaving the factory. It must be thoroughly cleaned before use. Apply lubricating oil to mating surfaces during reassembly and conduct a trial run at low speed.

Caution! Before connecting air and water pipes, blow out any debris inside the pipes to prevent it from entering the machine and affecting normal operation. During rock drilling, maintain water pressure ​0.1–0.2 MPa lower than air pressure​ to avoid flushing water entering the machine, which could impair lubrication and introduce contaminants.

Warning! Before supplying air or water, carefully inspect all connections to ensure they are secure to prevent accidental detachment and injury.

Caution!​​ Fill the oiler completely before starting the machine. ​Operation without lubrication is strictly prohibited.

Warning!​When operating in environments containing super methane (highly flammable gas)​, ​do not use low-flash-point or flammable lubricants, and ​never run the machine idle​ to prevent explosion hazards.

Adjust the oil valve to supply oil approximately ​once per hour.

Warning!​​ During operation, ​be extremely cautious of sudden drill rod breakage​ and ensure operators are not pinched between the rock drill and the air leg.

After completing work, ​first shut off the water supply, then run the machine briefly to expel residual water and prevent rust.

Machines in continuous use require ​regular maintenance, including cleaning internal debris, replacing worn parts, and eliminating potential faults.

If storing a used machine for an extended period, ​disassemble, clean, degrease, and store it in a cool, dry place.

Caution!​Pneumatic rock drills generate noise, vibration, and dust during operation. Operators must wear ​protective gear such as noise-reducing ear muffs.

Q: How to operate the control valve of the YT30G air-leg rock drill?

A: The operating mechanism of the YT30G air-leg rock drill is entirely concentrated on the handle body, with the exception of the oiler.

The control valve is positioned atop the handle body and connected to an operating lever. This valve serves as the control mechanism for machine start/stop operations, power adjustment, air-water linkage, and forceful flushing. The operating lever features five distinct control positions (Figure 1).

Position (1):​ Low-speed operation, water injection, flushing
Position (2):​Medium-speed operation, water injection, flushing
Position (3):​ Full-speed operation, water injection, flushing

During rock drilling operations, the lever position should be promptly selected or adjusted according to changing rock conditions to minimize drill steel jamming.​

Q: How to Operate the Pressure Regulating Valve on the YT30G Air-Leg Rock Drill?

A: The pressure regulating valve is located below the handle body and controls both the air-leg thrust force and its activation/deactivation. As shown in Figure 1, pushing the valve in the direction of the arrow gradually increases the air-leg thrust from zero.​

A: The axial thrust of the air leg can be steplessly adjusted via the pressure regulating valve. To increase the thrust, push the valve handle clockwise to the left; to reduce it, push the handle to the right until it returns to zero.

Q: Can this machine be used for shaft sinking operations?

A:​ The YT30G Air leg rock drill, when paired with the FT160 air leg, is primarily designed for horizontal and upward-inclined drilling (less than 45 degrees). For vertical downward drilling, we recommend consulting our Y24 or Y26 hand-held rock drill series.

Q: What is the optimal working air pressure for the YT30G?

A: To achieve the highest drilling efficiency, it is recommended to maintain the working air pressure between 0.4 and 0.63 MPa. Within this range, the impact energy and mechanical lifespan reach an optimal balance.

Q: Question: How to prevent piston "cylinder scuffing" during operation?

A: The key lies in lubrication. We recommend checking the oil level in the FY200B oiler before the start of each shift and using the rock drill lubricating oil specified by us. Lubrication significantly impacts the performance and service life of the rock drill; therefore, continuous oil injection lubrication must be ensured during operation. Consequently, the use of inferior engine oil or waste engine oil is strictly prohibited. Additionally, do not use high-viscosity engine oil or grease that the oiler cannot dispense, as this may lead to poor lubrication caused by clogged lubrication passages or air pressure channels. Furthermore, high-viscosity engine oil can also result in starting difficulties. Users may select the appropriate lubricating oil with reference to the table below, based on on-site conditions.

The selection principle is as follows: use lubricating oils with higher viscosity at higher ambient temperatures and those with lower viscosity at lower ambient temperatures.
